Club to Celebrate 55th Anniversary

The Metropolitan Coin Club of Atlanta began as the Doraville Coin Club, founded in April of 1964 by Bob Baker, Fred Glass, Joe Merch, Joe Nesbit, James Maloney, Jimmy Going, Herbert Beaty, and Charles Hawkins. (Read Our Story here.)

This club will celebrate its 55th anniversary on Sunday, April 28, at the Cross Creek Café in Atlanta. The party will begin at 5:00 p.m. with the dinner buffet opening at 6:00 p.m.

The all-you-can-eat classic American buffet includes:

  • Herb Roasted Chicken
  • Grilled Lemon Pepper Tilapia
  • Mixed Greens with Assorted Dressings
  • Basil Tomatoes and Cucumber Salad
  • Chef’s Fresh Seasonal Vegetables
  • Steamed Rice Pilaf
  • Roasted New Potatoes
  • Roast Beef au Jus
  • Rolls & Butter
  • Iced Tea, Coffee, and Soft Drinks
  • Assorted Cookies
  • Cash Bar

A special anniversary cake will be served for dessert.

Arrive hungry and leave full as no food can be taken home.

The ticket prices for club members are:

  • Adults (and one guest) – $30 each
  • YNs (age 10 and under) – $7.50
  • YNs (over 10) – $15

For non-members:

  • Adults – $38
  • YNs (age 10 and under) – $15
  • YNs (over 10) – $30

Prices include taxes and gratuities.

Tickets go on sale at our next club meeting, February 16, through the April 20 meeting. Your payment for additional tickets must be received by April 20. (Any member needing special financial consideration should speak with a club officer.)  You must have your ticket to be eligible for the prize drawings, so do not forget to bring it to the party.

There will not be a gift exchange. However, we would like to have a door prize for everyone, so please donate a door prize—approximately a $10 value.

The gold and silver guess contest winners will be announced at the party, and we will have the usual gold and silver prizes.

There will also be a special opportunity available. Rick and Susan Cremering have generously again donated a weekend of the winner’s choice at Yonah South Cabin in North Georgia.  The cabin can accommodate large family groups and has an extensive play area for kids, outside fire pit, sauna, hot tub, grill area, screened rocking porch and a gold panning creek.

Tickets for a chance to win the Yonah South Cabin weekend are being sold at all meetings prior to and at the party with all proceeds going to the club. Tickets are $10 each or 3 chances for $20.
