A New Chapter for the Raleigh Money Expo Starting in 2027

Exciting news for collectors in the Carolinas and beyond: Whitman Expos and the Raleigh Coin Club have partnered to produce the Raleigh Money Expo in 2027 and 2028. The first show under the new partnership will take place June 17–19, 2027, at the Raleigh Convention Center in downtown Raleigh, North Carolina. The three-day event will be free and open to the public.

This collaboration brings together the strengths of both organizations. The Raleigh Coin Club contributes its strong local relationships, successful show experience, educational focus, and dedicated volunteer network. Whitman Expos adds national reach, an extensive dealer network, industry connections, marketing resources, and experience producing major numismatic conventions.

Rather than creating a competing event, the two groups are joining forces to expand an already successful regional show into a larger national destination while preserving its local character and educational mission.

What’s Changing — and What’s Staying the Same

Collectors and dealers can expect the features of a major national convention, including:

  • Participation from leading grading services and other numismatic organizations
  • An official auction hosted by Stack’s Bowers Galleries
  • Expanded exhibits and educational programming
  • Greater national marketing to attract collectors from across the country

Just as importantly, the Raleigh Coin Club will remain co-host and actively involved. Its commitment to education—exhibits, young numismatist activities, seminars, and other programming—will continue to be a central part of the show experience.

“We are so excited for this next chapter and see this as the beginning of a long-term relationship,” said Christy Burbank, General Manager of Whitman Expos. “Even in the short amount of time working together, I’ve witnessed firsthand the incredible energy and passion the Raleigh Coin Club brings to the hobby and to its show. They genuinely care about serving collectors, dealers, young numismatists, and the broader community.”

Why Raleigh?

Raleigh offers the infrastructure needed for a major national event: excellent convention facilities, strong transportation access, lodging, dining, and visitor amenities. The Raleigh Convention Center provides nearly 150,000 square feet of contiguous exhibit space, and Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) offers extensive nonstop service to major cities across the country. Downtown Raleigh’s restaurants, hotels, and attractions make it a convenient and enjoyable summer destination for dealers, collectors, and families alike.

Looking Ahead

The shared goal is clear: preserve what has made the Raleigh Money Expo successful while giving it the resources and reach to grow into the Carolinas’ premier collecting event and one of the outstanding numismatic gatherings in the United States.

Additional details—including a new show website, dealer and attendee registration, hotel information, programming, and participating organizations—will be announced soon at whitmanexpo.com.
