Coin World’s Larry Jewett Moves to Whitman

Larry Jewett
Larry is a respected numismatic editor and journalist with decades of experience covering the rare coin and collectibles markets.

The numismatic community has exciting news to share: Larry Jewett, a veteran editor and respected voice in coin collecting, has joined Whitman Brands in a senior editorial role. This move, announced on February 3, 2026, bolsters Whitman’s publishing efforts at a time when the hobby is seeing renewed interest and expanded product lines.

Whitman Brands, a leading provider of data, media, and products for numismatics and collectibles, highlighted Jewett’s decades of experience as he steps into the position previously held by Diana Plattner. Patrick Perez, Chief Publishing Officer at Whitman, expressed enthusiasm about the addition: “We’re thrilled to welcome Larry to Whitman. He’s stepping into an important role, and his experience, judgment, and passion for the hobby will help us continue building something truly special.”

Jewett comes to Whitman after many years at Coin World, where he held senior editorial positions and earned recognition for his expertise in U.S. and world coinage, market trends, and the personalities driving the hobby. His background includes a bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism from Bowling Green State University, early work in radio and automotive journalism, and roles in digital marketing and announcing. He also serves on the board of the Numismatic Literary Guild and has won multiple Best Podcast awards. His personal collecting focuses on birth-year world coins and banknotes with unique serial numbers.

In his new position, Jewett will play a central role in enhancing Whitman’s content quality. Key responsibilities include:

  • Serving as lead editor for the iconic Red Book (A Guide Book of United States Coins) and Mega Red
  • Editing and developing content for albums and folders
  • Planning and producing articles for Greysheet, Red Book Quarterly, and Greensheet
  • Writing and delivering breaking news and major market updates for Greysheet News

Jewett’s industry connections—with leaders, the U.S. Mint, and other partners—will further support Whitman’s initiatives.

The timing aligns with Whitman’s ambitious publishing growth. Last year, the company released over 50 new titles and products, including a reimagined 2026 Red Book, a redesigned 2026 Stamp Catalog, the new Professional Series for advanced topics, and the premium Whitman Prestige album line. Even more projects are slated for 2026, and Jewett’s expertise will help elevate editorial standards across the board.

“I couldn’t be happier to join Whitman Brands at such an exciting time for numismatics,” Jewett said. “Whitman has an unmatched legacy of educating and serving collectors. I’m excited to work with this talented team, build on the strong foundation already in place, and contribute to the next chapter of these iconic publications.”

For coin club members, this development signals continued strength in high-quality, reliable resources. The Red Book and related Whitman publications remain essential tools for collectors, and fresh leadership ensures they stay accurate, engaging, and relevant.
